Our Story

House Mikkeller’s legacy starts with the adventure of a beer loving Danish math- and physics instructor experimenting with hops, malt and yeast in his small hearth in Copenhagen. By virtue of his efforts and innovation, his ministrations resulted in beers of unparalleled acclaim.

Word of House Mikkeller’s beverages spread, the spark that lit the flame of a new craft beer revolution, exposing the world to a thirst for quality and innovation that has yet to be slaked.

Today House Mikkeller ships their beer to all the corners of Westeros and beyond and have over 40 taverns where the curious and informed alike can gather in good cheer.

Mikkel Bjergsø, Founder of House Mikkeller, continues to this day with his relentless experimentation, his tireless pursuit to elevate ingredients humble and exotic to their finest purpose. Challenging the accepted hegemony and establishing high quality craft beer as the standard in all corners of the world is House Mikkeller’s calling. The Essence of House Mikkeller is first and foremost beer. Showcasing all possible styles and ingredients, it is a world of hops, malt, barrel aging, spontaneous fermentation, coffee, grapes from the Arbor region, passion fruit, cherries, chili, Dornish plums, chocolate and more.

House Mikkeller honors great beer with triumphant feasts and festivals, a Celebration of friends and beers that attracts passionate Westorosi from across the Seven Kingdoms.

Under the House Mikkeller Banner a legion of runners, located in 250 different chapters in 37 countries, run for good health and good fun. Something is hatching...
Once again House Mikkeller has heeded the call and raised their banners in aid.. Because dragons have risen again.
To mark the return to Westeros in House of the Dragon this August and to celebrate Day of the Dragon, the brewmasters at House Mikkeller have been hard at work concocting some magical beverages in the cellars, that grants those brave enough a fiery edge.

Our Year-Long Iron Throne Wit is now available. as are Night King Double IPA, Ghost Visions Lager and Castle Black Stout- the three beers from House Mikkeller, that celebrates and pays homage to the snow-capped North from the world-famous HBO series Game of Thrones. All beers are based on the common theme ‘Winter is Here’ that draws inspiration from central places and characters from the series' icy universe around the Wall.

Based on the winter theme, House Mikkeller decided to make four very different beers that, through recipes and designs, support Game of Throne's imaginative universe and characters: a fruity New England double IPA, a clean, light and fresh lager, a full-bodied barrel-aged imperial stout, and our year-long wit beer.

As a celebration of Game of Thrones' 10-year anniversary, House Mikkeller has bent the knee to the Iron Throne to mark the monumental...

This alliance marks the first step in a multi-year partnership, where House Mikkeller will brew wonderful concoctions inspired by exciting events in the Game of Thrones universe.
